Species Protection for Men
Seemann, H. (2009) Species Protection for Men: The Rediscovery of the Masculine. Stuttgart: Klett-Cotta (currently out of print).
In an increasingly feminized world, men—both young and old—are currently struggling. Norms and behavioral standards for them are predominantly defined by women. Hanne Seemann writes here against the trend of "equalizing" the genders. Hormonal differences in hormones and brain functions lead to different behaviors and talents from birth. Equipped with a more or less masculine "nature," each individual develops their personality—if allowed to do so!
While girls often go through their development into women relatively smoothly, young men are frequently unsure of their identity. They often struggle to contribute positively in relationships—as women would like them to. They need a lot of attention and encouragement to recognize and show their unique characteristics, strengths, and special talents.
For the benefit of all, we should—including men themselves—learn to value masculine traits more highly again.
